This publication compiles nine chapters that present findings from the author's master thesis, part of the 4Cities Master Programme in Urban Studies. While many Master theses are often read only by supervisors and evaluators, this book aims to preserve the results of extensive research and analysis, preventing them from being overlooked. It offers a mosaic of research reflecting the breadth of urban studies, examining cities both locally and within broader spatial connections. The work highlights the significance of local contexts, demonstrating how various phenomena manifest differently across historical and contemporary settings, as well as within diverse social, economic, and political environments. Notably, the case studies included span a range of European cities, from Southern Europe (Madrid, Barcelona, Salamanca) to Western Europe (Berlin, Copenhagen, Manchester, Metz, Magdeburg, Vienna) and Eastern Europe (Budapest, Szczecin), showcasing their unique trajectories of spatial development, whether converging or diverging. This collective effort enriches the understanding of urban dynamics and contributes to the ongoing discourse in the field of urban studies.
