The Windy Mountains hide many treasures. They are mysterious, sometimes dangerous, full of rare plants and animals, changing with each season. However, something remains the same – their majesty and wisdom of thousands and millions of years of existence. From this wisdom, the original fairy tales of Martin Vopěnka draw inspiration. Animals here speak human language and share their experiences and encounters with humans; sometimes the author offers numerous parables about human life based on animal stories. The tales can be read on several levels, where everyone can find their own: as lyrical descriptions of the environment, as fairy tales, philosophical stories, and as fables that gently provide some lessons. Delicate dreamlike illustrations by Japanese artist Iku Dekune beautifully enhance the overall unique atmosphere of the book.
