Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a technological process consisting of, firstly, the separation of carbon dioxide (CO2) from industrial and energy-related sources such as power stations and chemical plants, secondly, its transport to a storage location and, lastly, its long-term underground isolation from the atmosphere.
