Ballıkayalar Canyon is the only place in Turkey that offers enjoyable climbing opportunities throughout the year. The general north-south orientation of the valley ensures that at least some slopes are shaded at any time of the day, while others receive sunlight. The cool valley winds in the summer create a pleasant climbing environment even on hot days. In winter, the mild climate allows for climbing on any day without rain. Ballıkayalar, used by climbing clubs for introductory training, also provides a foundation for the development of a climbing discipline independent of mountaineering in Turkey. This book includes descriptions of 77 routes, visually supported by illustrations.
