In its chapters we meet One-Eye an owl who has found himself suddenly transported from the wild to the intensive care unit at the Wildlife Aid centre. One-Eye is puzzled and frightened, torn from his natural realm by injury and the careless indifference of man. Sadly, One-Eye is not alone, and he soon finds himself sharing his misfortune and misery with a variety of creatures from Britain's endangered and shrinking countryside.
