Part of the "Pelican Big Books" series, this fairy tale includes a diary and report. The teaching focus is on comparing and explaining characters' behaviour and on looking at text differences. The series has been specifically written for the shared reading part of the literacy hour and supports the genre requirements of the National Literacy Strategy. Teacher's notes are included at the back of each Big Book, providing ideas for Text, Sentence and Word level activities. Smaller versions of the Big Books allow for follow-up work in groups and teacher's notes provide ideas for group work.
