Theodor Fontane's work encompasses five volumes that explore the Mark Brandenburg region, showcasing his keen observations and rich descriptions. The first volume, focusing on the Grafschaft Ruppin, was created between 1859 and 1861, with its first print in 1862. It has undergone multiple revisions, adhering to the Wohlfeilen edition from 1892. The second volume, Das Oderland, was developed from 1860 to 1863, with its initial release in 1863, also following the 1892 edition. The third volume, Havelland, spans from 1863 to 1872, first published in 1873 and aligned with the Wohlfeilen edition. The fourth volume, Spreeland, was crafted between 1859 and 1881, with its first edition appearing in 1882, maintaining the 1892 text. Lastly, Funf Schlosser, created between 1880 and 1888, was first published in 1889. This new large-format edition (210 x 297 mm) features a two-column layout and is edited by Karl-Maria Guth. The text is based on the comprehensive collected works edited by Edgar Gro and others, published between 1959 and 1975, ensuring a faithful representation of Fontane's literary legacy.
