Magnificent full-color photographs by Chris Harris capture the excitement and sense of exploration of a great railway passenger route from the tidewater at Vancouver to Prince George, encompassing some of the most spectacular scenery in British Columbia. The railway traverses the Great Mountains, follows along the edge of Fraser Canyon, crosses the ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau, and passes through the forested lands of the Interior. Harris's photos capture the drama of a Royal Hudson steam locomotive emerging from a tunnel, a freight train snaking along the incredible blue waters of Anderson Lake, and the track high above the chasm of Fraser Canyon. Text by Syd Cannings and Elaine Jones details the natural history of the diverse areas along the route, the history of the railway, and the route today.
