This volume presents a selection of papers from the ninth biennial National Ordo Templi Orientis Conference (NOTOCON) held in Sacramento, California, in 2013. The contributions cover a wide range of esoteric traditions, including courtesanship, Kabbalah, I Ching, Islam, vinification, and Voodoo. They delve into the roots of Western ritual magic, exploring the grimoire tradition through manuscripts like the Goetia and The Offices of Spirits, and examine the unique interactions between Afro-diasporic religions and Western ceremonial magic, particularly in the context of Tarot. Since its inception in 1997 in Akron, Ohio, NOTOCON has been hosted in various U.S. cities every two years. This collection is the fourth to be published, following the inaugural volume from the 2007 conference. Ordo Templi Orientis is an international fraternal order dedicated to individual liberty, the study of magick, and the promotion of the Law of Thelema, influenced by prominent figures such as Carl Kellner, Theodor Reuss, Aleister Crowley, Karl Germer, and Grady Louis McMurtry.
