Manga is rapidly becoming the most popular comic form in the United States, with sales reaching $120 million in 2004, a 20% increase from the previous year. This surge in interest coincides with a growing desire among secondary school students to learn Japanese, primarily to understand anime and manga in their original language. The third volume of the Japanese in MangaLand series continues to merge the popularity of manga with language instruction, making Japanese learning more engaging than traditional methods.
