Więcej o książce

This book by the famous philosopher Merab Mamardashvili (1930-1990) consists of lectures he read in 1979-1980. Philosophy, according to the author, draws the meaning out of an event thus enabling one to break from an evil circle. Mamardashvili emphasizes the finitism of Greek thinking and its notion of man as a “political animal”. The concept sets Greeks apart from the East, which did not require a thinker to return to the world from his “journey”. The book characterizes history as a struggle of Logos against chaos, the latter being the norm. Greece and the Renaissance are a rare anomaly and a mutation setting the tone for the future with the sheer energy of their adventure. Bibliographic references.
