Reunited

The Reawakened Series, Book 3

Więcej o książce

Nana's rooster crowed, jolting me awake. My mouth felt dry, and I groaned, pulling the sheets over my head to block out the intrusive daylight. An unsettling awareness nagged at me, but I couldn't grasp what it was. My head throbbed, and I craved water and aspirin, yet I lacked the energy to get up. The clattering of pots and pans indicated Nana would soon call for me. I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, feeling a sudden wave of danger. My knees buckled, and I sat back down, clutching my grandmother's quilt as if it were a lifeline. Horrific images flooded my mind: death, blood, destruction. Was it a dream? I heard Nana's voice calling, and I answered, my voice shaky. I dressed and stepped outside, where the sun shone brightly in the cerulean sky, casting a false sense of security. Yet, I sensed something sinister lurking in the shadows. As I settled beside Bossy to milk her, I felt utterly drained, as if my very essence had been wrung out. Just then, an irritated voice interrupted my thoughts, questioning my actions. I startled, knocking over the milk bucket. I demanded to know who was there, brandishing a pitchfork and warning of Nana's shotgun. Confusion reigned as I realized I wasn’t alone.
