Im Jahre 1921 verfilmte Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau erstmals Bram Stokers 24 Jahre zuvor veröffentlichte Erzählung "Dracula". Er erwarb jedoch nicht die Filmrechte, sondern verlegte einen Teil der Handlung von London nach Bremen und tauschte die Namen der handelnden Figuren aus: Aus Dracula wurde Nosferatu. Trotzdem kam Murnaus völlig illegales Plagiat von allen Filmen, die das Dracula-Motiv verarbeiteten, Stokers Roman am nächsten. Druillet wahrt diese Tradition und interpretiert den Vampir-Mythos mit größter Leidenschaft und Genialität.
