An extensive work on the life and work of the Utrecht based cartographer Gijsbert Franco von Derfelden. The composer of the Algemeene Kaart van Nederlandsch Oost-Indië is virtually unknown, except for his name and his maps. Therefore, this work offers many new insights. The book comes with a CD-rom with numerous appendices.
