Max Easterbrook arrives in London to discover that his best friend, kindly George Lambert, has been charged with wife-murder. Max can't believe that his friend is guilty, and tries to find evidence that will prve his innocence, but the picture is bleak.
The newest, most secret weapon was tested over an airfield, by an RAF plane which was then ordered to land. On the way, the plane was hijacked and course set for Russia, but it crashed in mountains close to an international frontier between East and West. The wreck containing the vital equipment lay in fog, snow and blizzards at 13,000 feet.
