Niko Pirosmani is a legendary figure in Georgia, known for his poignant portraits, animal paintings, landscapes, and everyday scenes created around 1900 in Tbilisi. His work, influenced by medieval iconography, reflects a profound sense of belonging while also embodying a novel approach recognized by the avant-garde. Like Henri Rousseau and Marc Chagall, Pirosmani is an exceptional yet hard-to-categorize artist of early modern art.
