Henry Worsley was a devoted husband, father, and decorated British special forces officer who held honor and sacrifice in high regard. He was also deeply obsessed with Ernest Shackleton, the legendary polar explorer who sought to reach the South Pole and cross Antarctica on foot. Though Shackleton never completed his journeys, he became renowned for rescuing his men from peril and exemplifying exceptional leadership. Worsley felt a profound connection to Shackleton's expeditions, being related to Frank Worsley, one of Shackleton's crew members, and he invested heavily in collecting artifacts from their adventures.
