In foggy San Francisco, Dr. Amy Winslow witnesses a shocking event when a jogging SFPD captain is attacked by a Bengal tiger. Despite her efforts in the ER, the captain dies, leaving his friend, Lt. Luis Ortega, grieving. The next day, while visiting a former patient, Amy discovers a hidden 1899 electrochemical laboratory in the cellar of a Victorian house. They are drawn into a web of bizarre murders linked to the captain's death, orchestrated by a cunning descendant of Holmes’ old foe, Professor Moriarty.
