Benny, whose parents work tirelessly to support their family, feels lucky to have Donny as a friend, especially since Donny has stood by him despite societal pressures to discriminate. Now, it's Benny's turn to support Donny. Previously, their dog, Skipper, was killed, and Donny was dealing with significant family issues. The story begins with Donny in critical condition after a terrible accident where he was hit by a car, leaving him unconscious in Sabreville hospital.
