It details the genealogies of legendary kings, heroes, and demigods from ancient India, including figures from the Mahabharata and Ramayana. The Purana offers intriguing insights into ancient Hindu cosmology and geography, alongside captivating tales of the boyhood adventures of Krishna and Rama, revered as avatars of Vishnu. It also references Buddhism and Jainism, aiding in dating the composition of the work. Current knowledge suggests that Hinduism has existed in three principal forms across different periods, although the specifics of these periods and the evolution of the national faith are not clearly defined.
