In this dark academia fantasy, two graduate students must set aside their rivalry to journey to Hell and save their professor's soul, risking their own in the process. Alice Law has dedicated her life to becoming a leading figure in Magick, sacrificing her pride, health, and sanity to work with the esteemed Professor Jacob Grimes at Cambridge. However, after a magical accident leads to Grimes's death—potentially her fault—Alice learns he is now in Hell. Determined to secure his recommendation for her future, she resolves to rescue him, only to discover her rival, Peter Murdoch, has the same intention. Armed with the stories of Orpheus and Dante, along with chalk for their spells, they embark on a treacherous journey through Hell. Yet, this underworld is far from the tales they know, and Magick may not provide the solutions they seek. As they navigate the challenges ahead, the unresolved tensions from their past could either unite them as powerful allies or lead them to their downfall.
