Więcej o książce

Winter arrives once every century, bringing with it ancient secrets that threaten to topple a kingdom. Mauritaine, a former war hero and captain in the Seelie Army, has been wrongfully accused of treason and sentenced to life in the dark prison of Crere Sulace, far from the City Emerald. The Seelie Queen, Regina Titania, offers him a chance at redemption through a perilous mission. Alongside him are a few trusted prisoners: Raieve, a foreign emissary caught in a dangerous situation; Perrin Alt, a nobleman imprisoned due to complex political machinations; and Brian Satterly, a human physicist searching for victims of the faery changeling trade. Meanwhile, dark forces conspire both within the Seelie kingdom and beyond. The vengeful soldier Purane-Es seeks to destroy Mauritaine, while the black artist Hy Pezho aligns with Mab to create a weapon that could enable the Unseelie to crush Titania's forces. As Mauritaine and his companions traverse the treacherous Contested Lands, filled with remnants of past wars, they face mounted patrols, brigands, and a traitor among them. With the Unseelie armies led by Queen Mab advancing, Mauritaine must choose between his freedom and the fate of the land that has forsaken him.
