Dear Reader: In a previous life, before the time of Plum, I wrote twelve short romance novels, all red-hot screwball comedies. Nine of these stories were published by the Loveswept line between 1988 and 1992, but they quickly went out of print, becoming available only at used bookstores and yard sales. While I typically modernize elements—like changing VHS to DVD and updating gum references—I chose to keep some nostalgic details, such as a heroine throwing a handheld phone into the toilet and discovering the antenna the next morning. Though most phones no longer have extended antennas, I loved the image, so I left it in. This story is likely the most romantic of my Loveswepts, yet it still features a small mystery.
