Więcej o książce

Emma Clayton's dazzling debut novel, THE ROAR, is a highly original dystopian thriller that is rich, thrilling and frightening, not to mention utterly unputdownable! It will be published in the UK and US by Chicken House in early summer 2008 and will be backed by an unmissable marketing and publicity campaign. Chicken House head Barry Cunningham has time and time again demonstrated his astounding ability to pick out the winners (Harry Potter, Cornelia Funke, etc), and THE ROAR promises to be the next publishing sensation. Twelve-year-old, Mika Smith is convinced his twin sister Ellie isnt dead, despite what the police tell his family. He is haunted by surreal nightmares that give him glimpses of the truth and he senses that his world is built on lies, but even his parents label him as disturbed and for a while he feels like hes going crazy. But when the Fit For Life project is launched in school and he suspects a sinister objective, his counsellor, Helen, realises Mika knows more than is possible and tells him he might find his beloved sister if he goes along with it. So Mika enters a competition based on a virtual reality game called Pod Fighter and competes through three rounds of exciting tasks in his quest for Ellie. While he competes, he makes amazing discoveries about himself and the world he lives in, but as his nightmares become reality, he discovers the terrible truth about why his sister was taken and the real purpose of the Fit For Life project.
